Playing around with Quicky and Unity lenses I come up with this:
a lens that searches in docs.python.org and provide links to the docs.
It works pretty well (just the first search is a little slow, and I am working on it)
if you want to try it
just add the PPA:pablorubianes-uy/pythondoc and install pythondoc-lens (its not a final release so… USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK 😛 and if you find some issue please File the bug)
Cool, can you also make one for Qt / Qt Assistant ?
Like entering “QString”, press enter and the Qt Assistant with the QString article pops up.
You can easily open Qt Assistant with the QString article with this command: assistant -showUrl qthelp://com.trolltech.qt.481/qdoc/qstring.html
Would be really cool if someone can make such a Lens/Scope. I would do it by myself, but I don’t know Python (afaik Lenses are atm only possible with Python ?).
Very nice, but what about an option to select which version of python documents to use.
Yes, this was done in a few hours, and use the 2.7 as is the stable one, but I might add the 3.3 in a few days.
Thanks for the idea!

Before downloading from docs.python.org would it be possible to check for a local python-doc package in /usr/share/doc/python*-doc ? It could work fully offline then. Thanks!
I’ll work on that alternative. nice idea!
Was thinking about writing this myself, until I found your lens. Awesome job
Thanks!!
